August Goal Recap

Okay, awkward moment when it's September 4, and I'm just now recapping my August goals. Let's not even mention that it'll probably be next week before I even give you my September goals. *insert see no evil monkey emoji here*

Anyway, August was a month with big goals, which I was hoping would lead to big lifestyle changes moving forward. And I'm proud to report that I am cruising at a comfortable speed down a road that will hopefully lead to a much more active and healthy life. Needless to say, I'm proud of myself and the efforts I made last month to truly change for the better. It's been a long time coming, and I'm ready for these changes I've made to stick with me for the long haul.

+ Eat more fruit. Yes, yes, yes! I started off the month with grapes in my weekly lunch, and now I'm usually eating a banana nearly every day. We've also got grapes and strawberries in the fridge ready for snacking at any given moment. And in addition to eating more fruit, I'm all around eating healthier, which I'll dive into more in my next goal...

+ Advocare?! Yes, I've started Advocare! If you haven't heard about it, I'd suggest following that link and checking it out. But anyway, I started my 24 Day Challenge in the middle of last month, and I am currently on day 19. Only six days left! Overall, I think I've done really well at sticking to my "diet." All of my meals are healthier, and I'm making better decisions about snacking. I also haven't had wine, coffee, or milk for three weeks. If you know me, you know that is a GIANT deal. And maybe I'm kidding myself, but the pants I wore to work today actually felt a little looser. I took "before" pictures last month, and I'm hoping I'll be able to see a real difference - in looks and on the scale - next week when I do my "after" photos and measurements.

+ Complete the butt and thigh challenge. So I didn't succeed here technically. I started off alright but tapered off after about a week and a half. But it's okay because 1. I started Advocare, which I think is a big step in the right direction and where the majority of my attention has been focused, and 2. because I've started going to the gym! So all in all, I'd say I accomplished the purpose of this goal and that was to start exercising. I finally checked out a couple gyms in the area a few weeks ago, and last week I joined one right around the corner from our apartment. So for the past two weeks I've been going to the gym three days a week. I'm only just starting, but the fact that I actually paid for a gym membership (and for Advocare for that matter) says something about my commitment level. It is time for a REAL change!

+ Go to the chiropractor. I did! I've actually gone twice so far. But I wasn't too crazy about this one I've visited, so I'm looking for a different one at the moment.

This past month has been dedicated to a healthier lifestyle - to look and feel good. And I've done exactly that. They say insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. Well, I was insane. Every time I've wanted to "get healthy" these past few years, I've done the same thing - half-assed workouts at home and little to no change in my diet. And obviously it hasn't worked. But this time I did something different.

I've paid real money to kickstart my lifestyle changes, and I know the value of a dollar, y'all. I'm not the type, never have been, to let hard-earned money go to waste. I want my dollars to go a long way, and that means sticking with the gym and sticking with my new eating habits long after I'm done with this 24 Day Challenge.

So here's to a new me! Finally...
