Getting Fit with Blogilates

This past week I started working out. Yes, you read that right. I actually got my butt off the couch and have begun to make the effort to get my body in the shape it should be. And I've actually really enjoyed it. I found Cassey Ho's YouTube channel several months ago, but it wasn't until this past week that I actually started following her videos.

She's a pilates instructor and has developed an amazing brand geared toward helping all of us get in shape. She has her fitness YouTube channel, her blog full of more exercises as well as healthy recipes and workout calendars, and her various social media networks including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. I downloaded a handful of her workout calendars, and this month I'm working my way through the Beginner's 2.0 workout plan, which is displayed at the top of this post.

I know I made a goal this month to practice yoga at least three times a week, but I feel like I'm going above and beyond the plan I made for myself, and I couldn't be happier. I used to be in great shape. When I was cheering and playing soccer I had a great body. I was fit. I was active. And I was healthy. But once I retired from sports, it wasn't much later that my athletic physique went down the tubes, and now I've got a lot of work to do before I'm back to my self-described "cheerleader bod." But I'm proud of myself for finally making the effort; it's never too late to start.

Over the past three years, I've tried multiple times to "start working out again," and each time, I've worked hard for a couple weeks then gave up and returned to my old habits. But this time it really does feel different. I feel like my head is in a different place; I feel like I have the motivation and determination to really see things through this time. I'm finally seeing just how much I've neglected my body, and after months and months of complaining I'm ready to do something about it. And the best part of all is that I'm doing it for myself. In the past I've always wanted to get back in shape for other reasons - to look good at the pool or beach, to make my boyfriend happy, to be comparable to other girls with great bodies. I've never wanted to be in shape just for myself. But that's what's different now, and that's why I know that I'll actually achieve my goals this time around. I'm ready to be fit just for me.

And if you're interested in getting in shape and taking care of yourself, I definitely recommend Blogilates and Cassey's program. She has found an awesome formula for helping people workout even when they can't attend her fitness classes. I've only been doing it for a week, but I know it will pay off.

Let me know what you do to stay in shape!
