February Goals

It's the start of a new month, which means I'm focusing on my second set of goals for the year. Last month I did pretty well with my goals, and I'm hoping February will follow suit. So here they are - February goals:

+ Drink 4 glasses of water a day. Every year I make some sort of resolution to get healthy, and every year for the past 3 years I have failed miserably at taking care of my body. I don't live an active lifestyle or eat as well as I should. And it's got to change! I'm going to try a different approach this year - more easing and less forcing. I'm hoping that taking baby steps in the right direction will be more beneficial than throwing myself into exercise, which always ends in me giving up after a couple weeks. So the first baby step is staying hydrated. I maybe drink one glass of water a day right now, so my focus this month is to keep the juices flowing. I know the recommended amount is 8 glasses, but baby steps... I'll work myself up to that.

+ Read a book. I love reading. I really do. The problem is I just don't do it. So this month, I'm going to read a book. And hopefully reading one book will lead to another then another then another.

+ Write in my journal at least once a week. If you've been following my blog for a considerable length of time, you might remember me mentioning that I journal. Like in a hand-written old school journal. I've had a journal for eight years now, but over the past couple years I've really slacked on my writing, but it's something I desperately want to change. I want to start setting aside time once a week to write. I want to get myself caught up on everything that's happened over the past year so I can truly reflect, and I'm hoping that once I get caught up it'll be much easier to keep up with what's happening now - life events, thoughts, ideas, emotions, all of it. I love journaling, and I want to start giving it more priority.

+ Clean out the closet. Bryan and I don't need to do anything extreme like what I did last summer before moving to Knoxville. (I probably donated/sent my mom home with about two-thirds of my closet.) But we could definitely stand to get rid of some things. We've both got a small handful of clothes we don't wear, so a quick clean-out is needed. Our closet is small, so even getting rid of just a small amount would make a big difference. (And it would allow room for new things.)

+ Experiment with my hair. Nothing crazy! I'm not about to put tons of crazy colors in my hair or get some extreme cut. I'm talking more about the products and styling. As of right now, I really don't do anything to my hair. I don't even own a hairdryer. But I really want to find some products that actually tame the frizz, and I want to teach myself some basic styling. Don't get me wrong, I love my mermaid locks. But sometimes a more refined and purposeful hair-do is simply necessary to look your best. If anything, this month I'm hoping I'll at least buy a hairdryer and figure out how to do a proper blow out without looking like a poodle when it's all said and done.
