White Cliffs of Dover

After Canterbury, my mom and I caught a train to Dover to spend the end of the afternoon walking along the white cliffs. We were really looking forward to this part of the day, but once my mom actually realized what a cliff was she wasn't as thrilled. Long story short, our walk along the cliffs was a lot more of me being annoyed and my mom nearly having a panic attack because she thought she would fall off the edge than a leisurely stroll.

Needless to say, the White Cliffs of Dover probably wasn't as idyllic as these pictures might suggest - a lot of frustration on the other side of the lens. But that's part of vacation. Not every excursion is going to be a 10. There will be some things that just don't work out like you had planned. But there are lessons to be learned is these moments. I know I need to be more patient and understanding of my mom's fear of heights; my mom maybe needs to learn that when you're 50 feet from the edge of a cliff, you aren't going to simply stumble off the side to your demise. And with lessons, there will still always be a bright side. We managed to get quite a few laughs out of how dramatic ole Queen Kathleen was being. We got to see France. Yes, that is the coast of France across the water in the picture above and in some of the pictures below. And these pictures are some of my absolute favorites from the trip. Overall, an experience to remember to say the least.
