7 Continents

I follow quite a few travel bloggers religiously and others I check up on if they post something that seems interesting. Reason being, I love the world, and I want to see as much of it as I can. Following these bloggers only makes my desire to travel stronger, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm fascinated by how vastly different one region can be from another, how crystal clear the ocean can be, and how technology has advanced so much that it's possible to go virtually anywhere as long as you're determined to make it happen. We live on a beautiful planet, and it would be shame to not take it in first-hand.

With all these travel bloggers I follow, I've seen quite a few times a list of places on every continent that the writer wants to see. I've thought about sharing my list plenty of times but have never really gotten around to it until now. I'm making the time, so here they are - one place on each continent that I want to see oh so badly.

North America - Grand Canyon

I feel like the Grand Canyon is something everybody wants to see in their lifetime, especially those of us who live in America. It's massive. It's beautiful. And it's truly one of a kind. After my trips last year to Charleston, the Outer Banks, and the Florida Keys, I really started to appreciate more what my home country has to offer, and for the past year I've been wanting more and more to see the Grand Canyon. I'm hoping I can make it happen in the next couple years.

South America - Easter Island

I've never been one for history class, but I've always been fascinated by old structures that are still standing and seem almost impossible to have been built or made. Easter Island is the perfect example of that. I don't remember when I first learned about the island - I want to say it was early high school - but I've wanted to go ever since I heard about it. It's mystifying, and I'd love to see it for myself. I mean, how did they do that?!

Africa - Kruger National Park

I want to start this off by saying that Africa is a massive continent, and choosing just one place to see on that entire mass of land is extremely difficult. It's all so different depending on where you go. But one place I know I want to see and am bond and determined to make happen is Kruger National Park. I want to go on a safari and see the Big 5. And when I would see an elephant I'd probably almost die because the elephant is my favorite animal. There are some experiences zoos just can't duplicate.

Europe - The Greek Isles

Europe is similar to Africa for me in that it's so hard to choose just one place and expect it to embody all that Europe is. There is so much see in that geographically small area of the world, and no doubt, I want to see it all. But when I first saw pictures of Santorini a few years ago, the Greek Isles have been consistently at the top of my must-see places. It's gorgeous, plain and simple, and it's home to some of the best sunsets in the world according to just about everybody who's been there. I've also always been fascinated with Greek mythology - it was one of my favorite topics in school to learn about - so being able to visit Greece, in general, would be a big treat for me.

Asia - Taj Mahal

The Taj Mahal is place I've wanted to see ever since elementary school. Mainly, it's a masterpiece, and it's gorgeous. Not to mention the back story is that of pure love. It's most likely been at the top of my list longer than any other place, and I'm hoping one day I'll be able to make it there. (And I hope whenever I do go that I'll be able to go with my husband so that he can see with his own eyes how to show his love for me, haha.)

Australia - Great Ocean Road

Out of all the continents, Australia is the one I want to see more than anything else. And I want to see the whole continent - every single part of it. If I could take six months to just travel around Australia, I'd be in heaven. And during this hypothetical six-month Australian adventure, I'd make a point to drive the Great Ocean Road in Victoria. I know it would be a sight to see. There are some stretches of road that are simply better than others, and the Great Ocean Roads is one of them.

Antarctica - yes?

Okay, okay. I know Antarctica isn't necessarily a big must-see for most people. But I've always wanted to set foot on every continent, and Antarctica is one of those continents. I really hate the cold, but I would suck it up if it meant big able to see the Great White Continent with my own eyes. And how many people do you know that have been to Antarctica? Probably none. But I want to be one of the few people that have actually been there. I've done a little bit of research, and there are cruises that, for a pretty penny, will take you down there. I'm willing to save up to make it happen. Fingers crossed!

And there you have it - one must-see place per continent.
Where do you want to go?

  1. This is a great idea to pick destinations based on all the different continents. I really hope to travel to the Taj Mahal and Greek Isles soon too!
