Resolution Recap

I'm one of those people that makes new year's resolutions every January, and I actually try to keep my resolutions and don't just forget about them by February. Making goals, no matter how big or small, is important, and the beginning of each year is a great starting point for making those goals happen.

With that being said, I did a terrible job at keeping my resolutions for 2013. I almost didn't want to do a recap post like this because I'm kinda embarrassed with how awful I did this year. But for the purposes of humor and light-heartedness, I give you a rundown on the success (or lack thereof) of my 2013 resolutions.

+ Cook. Supposedly cooking was at the top of my priority list being that I'm living in my own apartment. Nope! I barely cooked at all this year. I made spaghetti a handful of times and some chicken dinners, but all in all I totally failed at this resolution. My biggest accomplishment was making glühwein the other night with my mom as my sous chef.

+ Get in a solid workout routine. Hahaha!! This one is my biggest failed resolution. I actually worked out, I think, five times this whole year. Honestly, I really hate working out, especially alone. I can't get motivation to go to the gym for the life of me. Maybe next year...

+ Read at least 10 books. I didn't accomplish this either, but I'm actually kinda bummed about not succeeding here. I love reading. But I got really wrapped up in school and life, and I just didn't make the time to read like I wanted to. But I did read four books this year. You can read the reviews by following these links: Skinnydipping, Suck Your Stomach In & Put Some Color On, A Walk to Remember, and The Blind Side.

+ Wear makeup. Woohoo! I actually did this one. Okay, so I know this sounds like a strange resolution, but I used to be a major tomboy growing up, and makeup has never been something that I really fussed with. But this year I finally got a grip and started making the effort. I still don't wear makeup all the time. I have pretty good skin, so I don't necessarily need it. But I wear it when I need to and sometimes even when I don't. And for me, that's a success. I've gotten much more girly in general during 2013 actually.

+ Blog! Yay! Another success! Believe it or not, I made a resolution to blog more often this year. Last year I really struggled with being consistent, and I think I've greatly improved on that this year. Looking back at my archive there were definitely a couple months that I didn't post very much. But the majority of these past 12 months have seen some pretty regular blogging. I even gave my little corner of the Blogosphere a facelift.

+ Get an internship. My third successful resolution! And I didn't just get one internship, I got two! This past semester I worked with the KSU Athletic Department and ESPN3 as an event production intern, and I'll be doing it again during the spring. I also have an internship with Q100 radio station as a promotions intern that will be starting in January. This was my most important resolution for 2013, and I'm so proud of myself for not just accomplishing, but exceeding my goal to have an internship by the end of the year.

So three out of six isn't too bad, right? And I at least attempted the other three, so I have to get some points for effort. Overall, I'm pretty proud of myself for what I did accomplish, and there's always next year to try again at the things I didn't get done.

Did you keep your 2013 resolutions?
