Ferry

40 MINUTES BACK TO OCRACOKE. After spending such a wonderful day on Hatteras Island, I wanted to make sure to really take in my final sights of the island before getting back to Ocracoke.
We left for Hatteras pretty early in the morning, and it was raining slightly, so I decided to just sit in the car and get some rest before getting to the lighthouse. But leaving, it was another story. The sun was out, and I had so much more energy. I wanted to see as much as I could, so that's exactly what I did. I hope you enjoy these handful of pictures from the ferry ride; I wish I had more to share.

Also, one good thing to know about the ferry from Hatteras to Ocracoke: there is a long line. Bryan and I had to wait a little over an hour before we actually drove on a ferry. But it's not a miserable wait. There are little tourist shops next to the ferry line and even an ice cream shop, which we took total advantage of. Just make sure to not stray too far and to pay attention to the ferries loading. We were on a dock looking at boats when we noticed the ferry we thought we would be on was loading, so we had to run back to the car. We didn't really need to run seeing as we were about four cars shy of the ferry, but the next one loaded just 15 minutes later. And speaking of time, I'm pretty sure ferries leave every 30 minutes; I'm not sure why we loaded at 2:15 instead of 2:30, but I guess the ferry crew was running ahead of schedule.
