To München!

This past weekend was our long weekend, so Brooke, Claire, Ashley, Kristen, Lindsey, and I decided to take a trip to Munich and Salzburg, Austria. We went to Munich first and spent two nights there. The first night was pretty calm since we got there in the evening and were tired from the train ride, but our second day was spent roaming around the city and exploring some well-known sites.

We woke up early on Friday and headed to the Deutsches Museum, a science and engineering museum that uses an interactive and hands-on approach to educate visitors. The museum covered so many different types of sciences: aeronautics, astronautics, power machinery, telecommunications, and so much more. I was overwhelmed with how much was housed in this one museum. No wonder it's listed as a site to see in my "1,000 Places" book.

Me, Ashley, Claire, Kristen, Brooke, and Lindsey at the museum.

After spending the morning at the museum we had worked up quite an appetite, so we hunted down the Hofbräuhaus, one of the most well-known beer gardens in Germany. The place is so huge that it has its own gift shop! We sat outside and enjoyed the cool weather while eating some delicious food and drinking beer. I'm not much of a beer drinker; I'm not a fan of carbonated drinks. But I sucked it up and ordered my own half liter because, you know, when in Germany, do as the Germans. Thankfully Claire was more than willing to finish what I couldn't.

After lunch we decided to spend a few hours relaxing at our hostel before experiencing the Munich nightlife. We went to a bar and drank some incredibly overpriced drinks before calling it a night. The next morning we woke up bright and early to catch our train to Salzburg...

I've decided to do separate post on Salzburg, and by separate post I mean there will probably be two or three posts about our day there. It was absolutely beautiful! It's definitely my favorite place that we have visited. Check back later to read about my trip!
