Day 2: Meaning Behind Your Blog Name

I use "jessieanna" as my URL. I wanted my URL to be something very simple and obviously me, so what could be better than using my name? This blog is 100% personal: me, my life, my story. And I wanted my URL to reflect that. Plus I think it's easy to remember, which is important if you want people to read what you have to say.

I went through a few trial titles though before I settled on "Girl Meets World." The original title was just my name. I wasn't feeling especially creative when I first made this blog, so using my name was a safe choice. I then changed it to "Life As It Unfolds" for a few weeks, and that suited my blog because I am, in fact, writing this blog as my life unfolds. But I got sick of it. It was a little cheesy and a little more generic, so then I changed the title to "The Current." And that title lasted for a whopping 24 hours. Honestly, I liked that title. I figured it reflected my blog because everything I'm posting and would continue to post would be what is currently happening in my life, but after seeing it on my blog I thought it seemed just a little too grown up for me. Plus it was a little misleading. Being from the beach, when I hear the word "current" I immediately think of the ocean. I didn't want people finding my blog and thinking I was blogging about marine biology or something because that is obviously not what I'm doing.

And so, "Girl Meets World" was born. Boy Meets World is my favorite television show of all time, so that's what inspired this current title. I also think the title fully embodies what I'm doing here. I created this blog as a way to start fresh as a young adult; this is me coming into my own world and growing within it. I'm finally transitioning from adolescence to adulthood, and I think "Girl Meets World" fully captures the purpose of why I started this blog.
